A final invocation of darkness; Profane Apotheosis compiles the complete works of Unholy Sacrament, a Dutch entity devoted to the most unrelenting Black Metal of Death. This CD brings together the 2018 demo of the same name, originally released by The Throat, along with the previously unheard Shaytaniun Sessions, only two tracks of which had surfaced before on a self-released promo tape.
Void of traditional guitar work, Unholy Sacrament relied solely on bass to conjure an oppressive, abyssal sound, deep, cavernous, and utterly visceral. Their improvisational yet calculated approach combines the ritualistic intensity of Archgoat and Beherit with the chaotic spontaneity of Bestial Summoning, creating a truly sinister and otherworldly experience. Drenched in blasphemous atmospheres, the band moves seamlessly from relentless bestial fury to churning doom-laden dirges, occasionally highlighted by spectral synth work.
This pro CD edition, limited to 100 copies and released by Charnel Sanctum (AUS), serves as the band’s final statement, an epitaph for a project that never sought the light.
